Niagara Centre Member of Parliament Vance Badawey was on hand today to congratulate Brock University for receiving $3.8 million in funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). The Campbell lab was among the recipients and we plan to use these funds to determine how memory and attention interact in the brain and potentially change with age. Cheers NSERC!
In case you missed Dr. Campbell's talk as part of the Centre for Lifespan Development Research Speaker Series, you can view the whole thing here. And thanks to all those who made it to the event and/or signed up for Growing with Brock. We love to share our research with the community and need the community to do more research!
And that's not necessarily a bad thing! The new census data shows that Niagara now has more people over 65 than under 15. The Campbell lab weighs in on this trend in the St. Catharines Standard - full story here.
Congratulations to Emily Davis, who received Match of Minds funding from Brock University to work in the Campbell lab over the summer. Emily brings a wealth of knowledge to the lab, having worked as an RA in several other Psychology labs at Brock. We are very excited to have you on board!
There may not be too many flurries outside this winter, but there is certainly a flurry of activity here in the Neurocognitive Aging Lab. Computers are arriving, E-prime has been ordered (sigh), and new paradigms are ready for piloting. We've got some great undergrads lined up to work in the lab - now all we need are some superstar grad students!
